            <description><![CDATA[<div class="abstract">Labelling, protection and promotion of regional food</div>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>On September 13 a conference entitled: "Perspectives for the development of a system of protected designations of origin, protected geographical indications and guaranteed traditional specialties" will be held. During the conference, the matter of promotional benefits associated with registering the product name in the EU system will be brought up.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">The event will refer to the held on 11-14 September fair <a href="http://www.polagra-food.pl/franchising/en/programme/regional_flavors/">Tastes of Regions</a>, during which, among others, agricultural products or food products with the registered name as a protected designation of origin, protected geographical indication or which are guaranteed traditional specialties will be presented.</p>

            <description><![CDATA[<div class="abstract">Tastes of Regions  - regional and traditional food</div>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Tastes of Regions  is a unique exhibition dedicated to manufacturers and gourmets of regional, traditional and organic food. At this year's Polagra-Food fair, in halls 7 and 8, visitors will be able to try regional specialities prepared for years according to original recipes in different, even the most remote corners of our country.</p>
<p>Many small, local processors and producers will present their unique products. Stalls will offer to visitors wine, liqueurs, breads, excellent pastries, cold meats, cheese, vegetable and fruit preserves and much more.</p>
<p>The exhibition will be hosted by individual provinces. Presentations of folk art, traditional crafts, handicrafts and farm tourism offers will add variety to the exhibition.   </p>

            <description><![CDATA[<div class="abstract">l’Art de la cuisine Martell – we know the winners!</div>
<p><strong>The 7th L'Art de la cuisine Martell competition was held on 5-7 March. </strong><strong>It aims at selecting the most gifted young cooking teams from the best Polish hotels and restaurants.</strong></p>
<p>The competition is about preparing a dish that will best go with the taste of Martell cognac. Martell cognac cannot be used to prepare a dish but each team has to select the most appropriate Martell type when the dish is finished.</p>
<p>The lead theme of this year's competition was fish - sea trout. Each competing team was to prepare a main course for 10 people served solely on plates.</p>
<p>The winners are: Krzysztof Bobola and Maciej Undziakowicz from Dubiecko Castle (Dubiecko). These winners will participate in the Polish Culinary Cup since the winners of L'Art de la cuisine Martell competition are nominated to the Cup.</p>
<p>Below: Hanna Skrzypczak (Polagra Food and Gastro Trendy Director) and Donata Paszkiewicz (Polish Culinary Cup coordinator) present the winners with the nomination to the Polish Culinary Cup and a cheque sponsored by Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie.</p>

            <description><![CDATA[<div class="abstract">Wireless Internet Service at MTP fairgrounds</div>
<p>From January 2010 MTP provides wireless Internet service that enables access to Wi-Fi Internet. The  Wi-Fi Internet access is offered to participants of the fairs and participants of other events organized by  Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie as well as to tenants of the fair premises who use the premises to organize their own events.</p>
<p>Wireless Internet access is a paid service and the access codes are sold at Biuro Organizacji Targów (Fair Organization Office i.e. BOT)  located in pavilion 3, 5 and 7 as well as at all ticket offices.</p>
<p>Wireless Internet service is available within the whole MTP area.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<div class="abstract">Construction of stands before or dismantling them after the official dates</div>
<p align="justify">
Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie would like to inform you that stands may - in exceptional and <strong>justified</strong> cases - be installed before the scheduled installation date or dismantled after the scheduled dismantling date only with the consent of MTP. Such consent is granted where it is actually possible to conduct the work on the dates proposed by the applicant.
</p>
<p align="justify">
<strong>To obtain the consent </strong>to carry out construction or dismantling work on dates other than those set for each individual fair or other event the applicant should <strong>apply in writing</strong> to MTP's Facility Management Department and provide the reasons why the applicant needs to begin the stand construction earlier or finish the stand dismantling later. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
There is a <strong>fee payable</strong> for stand construction before the scheduled date or dismantling after such date. The fee shall be paid in advance - before construction or dismantling begins. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
The<strong> fees </strong>for such early construction or late dismantling are as follows:
</p>
<ul>
	<li>in pavilions: PLN 2 net per square metre of the leased area, such fee to be no less than PLN 350 net per day*</li>
	<li>outdoors: PLN 0.70 net per square metre of the leased area, such fee to be no less than PLN 150 net per day*</li>
</ul>

* 7.00 am - 9.30 pm
</p>
<p align="justify">
The fees are payable by those who prepare stands or arrange the leased space:
</p>
<ul>
	<li>participants of fairs and other events who construct stands for their own needs or arrange the area they leased,</li>
	<li>firms which construct stands or arrange leased area for participants of fairs or other events,</li>
	<li>event organisers who are responsible for developing or arranging the leased area.</li>

            <description><![CDATA[<div class="abstract">Summary of Polagra-Food 2008</div>
<p align="justify">
Another edition of the International Trade Fair for Food and Catering Products Polagra-Food 2008 came to an end. The position of being the largest specialist trade fair of the industry in this part of Europe has been strengthened due to the extensive exposition and interesting programme of accompanying events. Polagra-Food included five thematic exhibitions this year: Catering, Food and Drinks, Wine and Spirits, Franchising and Store Equipment. 
</p>
<p>
<strong>The Fair in numbers</strong> 
</p>
<p align="justify">
Nearly 450 companies from 30 countries presented their offer in the exhibition area of 11 000m­<sup>2</sup> during this year's edition of the fair.  45 000 professional visitors participated in Polagra-Food, together with International Trade Fair of Food Technologies Polagra-Tech, the International Food Ingredients Show and Taropak International Packaging Technology and Logistics Exhibition, which were taking place at the same time - they were the representatives of manufacturers, processing companies, tradespeople, scientists and persons who professionally deal with problems of the industry, and students from food and catering schools. 
</p>
<p>
<strong>Foreign delegations and governmental representatives at the fair</strong> 
</p>
<p align="justify">
This year's Polagra-Food fair was graced with the presence of many excellent guests, such as  the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy Waldemar Pawlak, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Marek Sawicki, the Minister of Agriculture in Russian Federation Wasilewicz Gordiejew, the Ministers and the representatives of Ministries of Agriculture from Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Palestine, China and others. The participation of  not only exhibitors and professional visitors in the fair, but also the domestic and foreign decision-makers shows that the importance of Polagra-Food is noticed and valued. What's more, numerous delegations interested in the exhibitors' offers arrived at the fair, in particular from: Spain, Brazil, Moldova, China, Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Palestine, Romania. 
</p>
<p>
<strong>Domestic and foreign delicacies</strong> 
</p>
<p align="justify">
Special, clear marking made it easy for the fair guests to get to an offer which was interesting for them. These were, among others: <strong>Food for Children</strong> mark, <strong>We Manufacture for the Catering Sector</strong> mark, and the <strong>Private Label</strong> mark - for those exhibitors who manufacture for trading under their own brands. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
Food for children has been for some time an important and dynamically developing segment of food products trading. Manufacturers of food for the youngest consumers must meet legal standards and parents' requirements, but it happens increasingly often that they themselves care about the highest quality of products. During the fair, these products were presented in the area especially designed for this purpose. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
<strong>We Manufacture for the Catering Sector </strong>is a slogan under which a special catalogue was published. It presented the offer of companies which manufacture products for this industry. Professional visitors involved in catering business: owners of restaurants, cafes, pubs, eating places and persons who are professionally involved in catering - chefs, confectioners, bakers and baristi could use this mark to easily find the manufacturers of catering products. Moreover, the stands of companies were marked with a special, distinctive mark. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
Private labels take up more and more space on the shelves of supermarket chains and meet consumers' tastes increasingly often. So the number of production and trade companies interested in this subject is larger from year to year. In order to facilitate a dialogue between the owners of private labels and entities which manufacture for large supermarket chains, their stands were marked, similarly as in the previous year, with the &quot;<strong>Private Label</strong>&quot; mark. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
A test called <strong>Consumers' Product Assessment</strong>, carried out during the fair, was very popular. During the test, an independent, variable panel of consumers consisting of visitors to the fair was assessing the taste, appearance, smell, packaging and price, among others, of products which had been provided by the exhibitors for this purpose. The main aim of this test was to get to know the consumers' opinion about a product, show the best version of a product from all versions prepared to be placed on the market and test the advantage of an assessed product over a similar one manufactured by competitors. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
A feast of colours, fragrances and tastes - this is how one could describe the exhibition located in the <strong>International Pavilion</strong>. Visitors could see and try high quality products from different, often remote parts of the world, at the stands of Austria, Belgium, Belarus, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Spain, Holland, India, Malta, Moldova, Lithuania, Germany, Portugal, Romania, Senegal, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary and Italy. Polish consumers are more and more interested in such products, and following on from this, they start to appear on our tables. 
</p>
<p>
<strong>The best from the best</strong> 
</p>
<p align="justify">
The International Trade Fair for Food and Catering Products Polagra-Food 2008 was a contest area for the best chefs, baristi and confectioners. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
The final of the most prestigious culinary contest in the country - the <strong>Polish Culinary Cup</strong> took place on September 17. The international jury was assessing two dishes prepared by ten teams: hot appetizer made of Baltic whitefish and fresh porcini mushrooms and the main dish: saddle of roe deer with cranberry and Polish mead. The winners were Artur Pijanowski and his assistant - Grzegorz Birek from Hotel Continental. The second place was taken by Zbigniew Koźlik and Katarzyna Żurawska from HP Park Plaza Hotel in Wrocław, and the third by Sebastian Truszkowski and Piotr Kitowski from  Nadmorski Hotel in Gdynia. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
The finals of two other culinary contests took place during the fair: Wielkopolska Chef of the Year and Primerba Cup. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
Robert Echaust from HP Park Poznań Hotel became<strong> </strong>the<strong> Wielkopolska Chef of the Year. </strong>He prepared the following dish for the contest: duck in cherries with red cabbage and potato dumplings. The second place on the podium was won by Piotr Dominiak from HP Park Poznań Hotel, with the dish: duck stewed in goose fat, served with cassolette and blood duck pudding. Andrzej Tritt from Dom Vikingów in Poznań came third, having prepared fillet with pistachio mousse, with the treasures of autumn. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
The winners of Primerba Cup, the contest for professional chefs originated and organised by Unilever Foodsolutions, were: Paweł Rozmiarek from HP Park Hotel in Poznań. The winner won the jury's heart with the dish: guinea fowl stuffed with herb mousse with foie gras truffle sauce - the first place. The jury gave the second place to Artur Maćkowiak from IBB Andersia Tower Hotel in Poznań. The winner of the second place prepared the following dish for the contest: guinea fowl in tropical sauce with kumquat and truffle roll. Karol Łukomski from Catering Athina company in Wrocław finished third. The dish he had prepared was: butter guinea fowl with spinach and chickpea, with fruit chutney. 
</p>
<p>
The winners of these two contest were granted the right to participate in the next year's final of the Polish Culinary Cup. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
<strong>2<sup>nd</sup> Polish Confectioners' Championships </strong>in the category of desserts were carried out under the theme &quot;Out of Africa&quot;.  The winners were: Paweł Małecki and Mariusz Buritta from Sowa Confectionery from Bydgoszcz having prepared the desserts: Desire of Robert Redford, Recollection of Meryl Streep and Treasure of Africa cake. The second place was taken by: Maciej Pięta and Ryszard Wawrzyniak from Kachliccy Confectionery from Grodzisk Wielkopolski. They served the following desserts: Jichi La Chita (Cheetah Eye), ice-cream dessert Bilauri Ya Baratu and dessert on plate: Kna Heri Afica (Out of Africa). Sebastian Winkel and Marcin Surdyk from Kandulski Confectionery from Poznań took the third place. The desserts they had prepared were: African Diamond, Ivory and Sahara Flower cake. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
Connoisseurs and novice fans of &quot;small black coffee&quot; were lured by scents floating around the Coffee Island.  <strong>The Coffee Olympics</strong> - the first Polish team championships for coffeehouse chains - was taking place there for two days. The winner was Coffee Heaven chain represented by Justyna Pusiak and Marcin Michalik. The second place was taken by Green Coffee chain and the third - by i coffee. 
</p>

<strong>Young Gastronomy Day</strong> 
</p>
<p align="justify">
3,700 students of food and catering schools visited the fair on September 18. A special programme and visiting routes were prepared for them. Young caterers, together with their teachers, were watching masterly shows of culinary and confectionery art, displays of baristi's virtuosity and presentations of specialist equipment used in catering. Moreover, a culinary workshop, which included a Norwegian salmon presentation, was organised especially for them. It was delivered by a famous chef Robert Sowa and consisted of three parts: the theoretical part - fishing, breeding and safety of Norwegian fish, the practical part - culinary workshop and the possibilities of using the fish in catering, and joint cooking and tasting. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
Young people participating in the Young Gastronomy Day chose companies, which made the best impression on them as regards their stands' arrangement, presentation of their offers and innovation of presented solutions. The following companies received awards in the &quot;A-grade Company&quot; contest: Unilever, Dora Metal, Witek's, Rational and Makro. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
<strong>Exchanging experiences, broadening knowledge</strong> 
</p>
<p align="justify">
A cycle of lectures, seminars and discussion panels was oganised as part of<strong> Two Days for Distribution</strong> - the largest trade event at Polagra-Food. A seminar on the rules of shop arrangement and equipment was extremely popular. During the first part titled &quot;Arrange your shop with us&quot;, the topics which were discussed included, among others, modern trade forms, components of profitability of a shop, shop lighting. The second part was devoted to the issues of shop equipment. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
The<strong> &quot;Private Labels&quot; </strong>conference also attracted many avid listeners. The evolution of private labels and the quality of private label products were discussed, and the research on tendencies in selling private labels in Poland was presented during this conference. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
The <strong>Expert Club</strong>, organised in cooperation with Witek's company, was a novelty at this year's fair.  In stylishly arranged interior, everybody who was interested in opening their own catering place could obtain guidelines and advice not to be overrated by novice representatives of catering. The discussed topics were: ways of obtaining funds for opening and maintaining an undertaking, modern and functional facility equipment, trends in interior decoration and methods of arranging and laying tables, and arranging menus.

<strong>Fair world of wines and spirits</strong> 
</p>
<p align="justify">
The exibition of the Wine and Spirit Pavilion had been particularly carefully prepared during this year's edition of the fair. The pavilion where producers and importers of alcoholic beverages from many parts of the world were presenting their products, was equipped with tasting rooms and professional glass and ice service. In order to ensure maximum comfort of the exhibitors and visitors, the organisers had seen to it that only adults could enter the pavilion.  Moreover, presentations and tasting of Croatian, Moldovan, Portuguese and Italian wines were very popular, as well as the presentation and tasting of products awarded at the 17<sup>th</sup> National Contest of Wines, Meads and Wine Products, organised by the National Council of Winemaking and Meadery.

Golden Medals of the Poznań International Fair and Acanthus Aureus awards were presented on September 17. 
</p>
<p align="justify">
The Golden Medals are prestigious and acknowledged awards. The products awarded in the contest from among products shown at the fair, were characterised by high quality, modern construction and technological solutions, ergonomic, ecological, esthetical and functional qualities.

<strong>The Fair in 2009</strong> 
</p>

In a reply to the dynamic development of the catering market in Poland, the Polagra-Food Fair will undergo metamorphosis. The Catering Exhibition is going to be a separate fair, named the Gastro-Trendy International Catering Fair. Such a separation will enable to adjust the fair to the needs and expectations of the market participants even better. The International Trade Fair for Food and Catering Products Polagra-Food 2008 will include the following exhibitions: Food and Drinks, Wine and Spirits, Franchising and Store Equipment. Both fairs will take place on September 14-17 2009.
